Blenders open movie projects

You probably noticed that I am a big fan and user of open source software. I also really enjoy other open content, especially if it has a constructive purpose. Take, for example, the projects of Blender. Their projects not only aim to create open content that is of the same quality as professional software, but the projects also aim to improve Blender.

The first project was a movie called Elephants Dream. A short movie to create open content. After that they started a project called Peach, which resulted in a high quality short movie called Big Buck Bunny. One of the aims of the project was to improve the rendering of fur and grass. A spin off of this project was Apricot, which aimed to improve the  3D game engine of Blender. This resulted in the game Yo Frankie!

I was really glad to learn about their newest project Durian. They already released the really promising trailer of the movie Sintel. This is really a project to follow. Watch the trailer:
