How secure is your password really?

Ever wondered how secure your passwords really are? Now there is a site to test your password strength. It calculates how long it will take for a normal desktop computer to crack your password. This is a good indication that is understandable for anyone, I guess. You can give it a try at http://howsecureismypassword.net. The site uses javascript to make the calculations, so you don't need to worry about sending you password over the internet to an unknown server.

Sadly strength isn't the only flaw in password security. Your password can be as strong as possible (my strongest password would take about 565,892,495,532 nonillion years for a desktop PC to crack and is used in rare cases), but the other flaw is that passwords are easily spread. For example by using a password with many different sites (you'll have to trust all of them to protect it and not abuse it) or writing it on a post-it (yes, people still do that). But a stronger password still helps protecting your data!
