Green architecture: Economic

The third part in Green Architecture is the economic part. Besides the social component and the environmental component, companies use economic resources. In which way are IT architects able to help their companies to use the economic resources in a sustainable way?

Employees

The first step is to identify which resources are used. Of course there are you employees. You will have to give them a good environment to work in. In case of the IT it is possible to offer employees the ability to work from home and/or work at flexible hours.

Money

This is not the only resource. A company is for making money. It takes money out of economic circulation. A company will use it to grow. You have to think about sustainable investment. The question is what an IT architect can do. Well by optimizing business processes and automating process steps it is possible to make sure that the product has the best price for the best quality. This way, not only will the product be cheaper and in that way more appealing to customers, but less money will be taken out of the economic circulation, even if it doesn't decrease the profits.
