The Shumway open SWF runtime project

This week Mozilla posted a new project called Shumway. It is a free and open source javascript implementation of Flash. Shumway renders Flash to HTML 5. With Shumway the goal is to eliminate the need for a local Flash plugin and be able to run Flash on any device.

Smart move. This way there are no Flash compatibility problems and you will be able to run Flash even on your Apple products. The project is in an early stage, but you can test it already. I've installed it and it runs quite well given the maturity stage it is in. With a Flash plug-in installed you will have a fall back scenario by clicking the Shumway button.

I must say that I really like this project! Way to go!
