Our Daily Bread

Last Sunday my wife and I watched the documentary called Our Daily Bread. This documentary is quite good for a Sunday. With no commentary the movie shows our industrialized food industry. It gives the viewers time to reflect on the food we eat daily. Our Daily Bread

To us it came down to ethical questions regarding life stock. Handling animals became too much industrialized, maybe even inhuman. Get me right: I don't object to eating meat, I even enjoy it. But our society, our world, uses too much. Not too long ago meat was a luxury. Now we eat meat every day, multiple times a day. And we want it cheap. There lies the problem. Meat is expensive. If we, the consumers don't pay the price, It will be payed in a different way. Animals will pay in suffering. People in the industry will pay in mind numbing jobs handling these animals. We do eat meat, but we try to do it only one or two times a week. Of course we watch the origin of the meat. We pray for our food. Thank God for it. The question is: Is this the way that God wants us to handle his creation?

Take a moment to reflect on your food and watch this documentary.
