Verse 19 will make up part 12 of this series: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Almost two months ago Richard Beck ran a post on this verse. He wrote on the christian response to the death of Osama Bin Laden. Quite interesting. This links to the previous verse, that stated that you must try to live in peace with other people as much as you are able to. Part of this is that you will not avenge yourself. If someone did you wrong, find it in your hart to forgive. If vengeance is needed, leave it to God. Be not your own judge, let the One who can judge be the judge. |
