Last week I was discussing evangelism with my wife. She is busy with a evangelism event in our church for Easter. She asked me if I had some ideas on what our church could do to attract people. My first question was: what group of people do you want to attract? That was her first question to, but to group of people she is working with just answered: "Everyone. Preferably those who don't go to church." From a marketing perspective this is a really hard group of people to reach. It's to general. The question is in what way should churches do evangelism. I believe that organizing events isn't getting the result anyone wants. A Dutch christian comedian once said (translated from Dutch): "Evangelism is having a barbecue with your neighbors." To me this is true. Evangelism isn't trying to attract a much unbelievers as possible to convert them. Evangelism is being who you are and showing your faith in your everyday life. Be a good Samaritan. Be a kind and wise person to the people around you. The church can help with this by giving seminars. But the church can also do this on a larger scale. As a church, be this good Samaritan to the area you live in. This is evangelism. This will build the church. Tags:
